Fairview’s Hardy qualifies for AAU nationals
Cameron Hardy wins 1,500 meters in Region 6

Cameron Hardy will be a fifth grader at Fairview elementary this fall. He competed in the AAU track and field section 6 regionals last weekend with more than 1,500 kids from Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky —all competing for a chance to go to the Junior Olympics. Cameron finished first in the 10 year old boys 1500m with a time of 5:03.29 and third in the 800m with a time of 2:39.98, both of which qualified him for the Junior Olympics at the end of July.
Cameron Hardy, a 10-year old distance specialist, won the AAU Region 6 Championship in the 1500-meter run recently.
He won the title by posting a time of 5 minutes, 2.60 seconds.
The Region 6 Meet was held at Austin-East and Hardin Valley Academy over the final weekend of June.
Hardy will move on to the AAU National Championships the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill July 26-Aug. 2.
