Foundation helps with phlebotomy classes

Students in Roane State’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant training program will be able to hone their skills in phlebotomy - the act of drawing blood - thanks to a $1,000 grant from the First Tennessee Foundation.

The grant will be used to purchase two Life/form Injection Training Simulators, or lifelike replicas of human arms, along with phlebotomy supplies.

Officials said the grant will serve 150 students a year as a part of their phlebotomy training, which is a component of the college’s medical assistant training.

Roane State’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant training program is reported to be among the most affordable of its type in Tennessee and has one of the highest pass rates in the Southeast, with 94 percent of students receiving industry certifications.
