Nix, Rumph make it a ‘Night of Champions’ at Second Baptist

On Wednesday, July 17, the fifth annual “Night of Champions” was held at 2nd Baptist Church in Clinton, where guest speakers spoke to younger players about football, faith, and fellowship.

Last year’s guest speaker was Josh Dobbs and more than 1,000 people attended. This year’s special guest speakers were Chris Rumph and Patrick Nix.

Nix was the quarterback for Auburn from 1992 through 1995, and is currently the head football coach at Pinson Valley High School in Pinson, Ala. In 2017, Nix carried the team to their first ever state championship in football, going 15-0.

Chris Rumph was a letterwinning linebacker at South Carolina in the 1990’s who is now in his second season as a co-defensive coordinator for the Tennessee Vols. He’s coached 24 NFL Draft picks and has over seventeen years experience at the FBS level, including time at Florida, Clemson, Alabama, and Texas.

More than 18 high school and middle schools teams from the area attended.
