ORUUC offering free meal Friday

Everyone is welcome to come to the Stone Soup free community meal at Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church (ORUUC) on Friday, July 26.

The “too hot for soup” summer meal will include homemade three-bean salad, Hummingbird cake, and fresh fruit. Dine-in or takeout will be available from 5 pm to 6 pm in the social hall. ORUUC is located at 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike (close to traffic light number 2) in Oak Ridge.

Everyone is welcome so bring family, friends, and neighbors or just come yourself. It’s a great place to come too if you just don’t feel like cooking or would like to meet new people,” said coordinator Jinx Watson.

The ORUUC free community meal is held on the final Friday of every month. Nonperishable family friendly groceries will be available for free to anyone in need.

Food for the community meals are provided by the ORUUC congregation and the Jewish Congregation of Oak Ridge. Kroger Marketplace provides fresh fruit for the meals.
