On Monday, July 29, Clinton City Schools welcomed back teachers to the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. As part of the beginning of the year celebration, Clinton Elementary School was honored to recognize former CES teacher and SCES Principal, Mrs. Darlene Miller. Darlene was a beloved member of the CCS family who passed away on January 19, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. In honor of her love of literacy, the family set up The Darlene Miller Literacy Fund through Clinton City Schools. Once donations were collected, the Clinton Elementary School Leadership Team chose books for the school library and for each grade level that were meaningful to Mrs. Miller. CES was honored to present the books, along with her husband Rick Miller, at the beginning of the year staff meeting. Additionally, a memorial statue will be placed in the CES library and Rick Miller will attend “Read Day” each year to read a special book to the students. Thank you to everyone that donated and helped the legacy of Darlene Miller live on at CCS.
