Lady Mavs tune up at Cyclone Invitational
The Anderson County High School Lady Mav’s cleaned house at the Cyclone Invitational during the weekend of Aug. 23, when they went undefeated again six East Tennessee teams, including Johnson County, Sullivan East, Greeneville, Sullivan North, Morristown East, and Elizabethton.
“We didn’t lose a game or even have to call a timeout,” said assistant coach Dail Cantrell , laughing. “Hannah Freeman and Kelsey Marlowe both set multiple games well.”
Morgan McMurray, Jayce Braden, Bailey Wilder, Erin Cantrell, and Madison Rowland led each of their teams in kills. Lear Freeman, Erin Cantrell, and Anna Kay Smith served as the teams anchors on the defensive side.
The highest score against them in any game came in their first round against Sullivan North, who managed to rack up 18 points before AC won the game. The lowest scoring set came in the first round against Morristown East, who only managed six points.
Anderson County starts their district play on Thursday, Aug. 29, against Grainger County. They have been district champions since they joined.
