Homecoming Court announced

On Thursday, September 19th, Clinton Middle Football hosted the CAK Warriors in its annual Homecoming Game!
The festivities before the game started with the announcement of the 2019 Football Homecoming Court.
Our Homecoming Queen is Tyra Martin! And her court consists of 8th Grade Princess Hayden Scarbrough, 7th Grade Princess Allie York, and 6th Grade Princess Josie Moody.
This year’s 8th grade candidates included Sara Duncan, Myrakle Hicks, Sierra Missbach, Avery Hubbard, Emily Ledford, Adison Sellers, Kenzie Ledford, and Olivia Marlow.
The 7th grade candidates included Cadence Crowley, Ashaunti Davis. Kairi Hollingsworth, and Kalinda Johnson.
And the 6th grade candidates included Ella Gamble, Allie McKamey, Lily Meyers, Madison Montgomery, Audrianna Summerour, and Gracie Williams.
Social Studies classes explore the past with wonder

History classes here at Clinton Middle are in the process of learning all about the different areas of the world.
Eighth grade history classes are currently learning about the 13 colonies and how they were formed. They are also learning why they chose the region they did.
Shelby Moore has informed us that, “it is hard but effective.” She likes using her Chromebook more than paper because it is easier on her.
According to Ms.Ewing seventh grade history classes have just finished Chinese culture, and have just begun learning about the development of the Japanese feudal system and the influence of Buddhism and Confucianism on Japan.
Ellie Hatmaker said that, “The work is kind of hard but the teachers make it fun.”
According to Mr. Mynatt sixth grade history classes are currently studying, “Ancient Mesopotamia, and the impact and effect of agriculture. And now we’re moving on from Mesopotamia into our second river valley civilization.”
Braden Miles told us that, “We make different maps, we do different types of worksheets, and sometimes we read articles on the topics.”
End of quarter college visits coming soon...

On October 3rd, 8th grade Hawks will be visiting colleges for the first time this school year!
All students will be going to four different colleges to tour in the morning. The students here can go to either UT Knoxville, Carson Newman, Pellissippi State, and TCAT Jacksboro.
Last Wednesday, students chose which college they prefer to visit.
Hawks in good behavioral standing throughout these beginning weeks of the school year so far will eat lunch and head out for more incentives throughout the day.
For the afternoon incentives: students visiting UT will eat at the Student Union and go to World’s Fair Park, Sunsphere, and the Knoxville Museum of Art.
Hawks travelling to Carson-Newman will head to Knoxville Zoo for a Career Tour, shadowing zookeepers, the zoo grounds crew, maintenance workers, and hear a presentation on what it is like to work at the zoo.
Those attending Pellissippi State will head out to Brushy Mountain State Prison for the museum tour with lunch at The Warden’s Table.
Finally, students visiting TCAT will head back to Clinton for popcorn, candy, soda, and a screening of Abominable at the Ritz Theater.
The CMCCA kitchen is heating up

The culinary arts program is back to cooking up some goodies again this year! So far they have cooked many things like chicken tenders, snickerdoodles, etc.
They are planning to start selling their dishes to the students of Clinton Middle. The students that are involved in the program have amazing cooking ability.
“I think that it is nice and fun to be apart of,” said Preston Gribble, a student in the 8th Grade Culinary Arts class.
Mrs. Sydney Basler, the head of the cooking program, told us, “It’s going really good. I am proud of what the students have done so far.”
