Ann Coria appointed 7th Judicial District public defender by Gov. Lee

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has appointed Ann Coria to replace retiring Public Defender Tom Marshall.

Marshall retired Oct. 1. He served for more than two decades as the public defender for the Seventh Judicial District.

Coria, a native of Anderson County, presently serves as an assistant public defender.

She has served in the Public Defender’s Office since 1999.

A former prosecutor, Coria obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and her law degree form the University of Arizona.

Coria has experience working in all three courts -- Juvenile, General Sessions, and Circuit Court.

The Public Defender’s Office has a staff of 11 employees including five attorneys.

The appointment was made Oct. 14.

Her appointment became effective immediately.

Anderson County encompasses the entire Seventh Judicial District.
