Weeklong emergency-responders class offered by Roane State

A weeklong course in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park can lead to meeting national standards for Emergency Medical Responder training with an emphasis on wilderness conditions, said Kirk Harris, director of Roane State’s continuing healthcare and safety education.

The curriculum meets Tennessee EMS standards and participants will be eligible for national registry and the Tennessee state testing upon completion.

Meals and dorm accommodations are included in the fee, which is $926 for the public or $469 for the refresher courses. National Park Service employees pay $713 for the full course and $303 for the refresher.

Enrollment is limited. For more information, call 865-448-6709 or email mail@gsmit.org. The website is www.gsmit.org.
