Blaze split at Coalfield Middle

The Clinton Blaze basketball teams earned a split during their last time out on the hardwood on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The boys prevailed 35-34 at Coalfield Middle School while the Lady Blaze dropped a 22-17 decision at Coalfield Middle School.

In the boys game, Jaxson Alcon had nine points, five rebounds and three blocks. Kaden Webber also finished nine points for Clinton, which improved to 6-4 in 2019.

For the Lady Blaze in Coalfield, Abby Phillips and Bethany Love each scored five points for Clinton (7-2).

On Nov. 11, the teams also salvaged a split against Grace Christian Academy.

The Lady Blaze won 21-12 and got seven points from Phillips and six from Topanga Easterday.

The Blaze came up on the short end of a 33-24 decision. Webber had nine points while Alcorn finished with six points five rebounds and three blocked shots.

The basketball teams played at St. Mary’s Monday and Knoxville Christian Tuesday but results were not available at press time.

Upcoming Schedule: The Blaze basketball teams return to action Thursday when they play host to First Baptist Academy of Powell. Tip-off for the Lady Blaze game is slated for 6 p.m. The boys game against the Eagles will follow.

Blaze Hold Coat Drive: The Blaze athletes recently held a coat drive for the needy.

Blaze Hoops Remains a Hot Ticket: Clinton has now played 14 consecutive games in front of capacity crowds after selling out its last home date.

Bonfire Party: The Clinton Blaze will host a bonfire Thursday night from 6:30-7:45 p.m. behind the football field.

Apparel update: Adidas recently fitted the Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams for shoes. The company will also provide shooting shirts for both teams and they will provide swimsuits for both swim teams.

Blaze Athlete of the Week: The Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 11 is basketball player Isaiah Williams.
