Rain brings new bridge repairs, traffic change

From the City of Clinton

Heavy rains today have created problems on the north end of the Lewallen Bridge project, where the abutment # 1 excavations are taking place. Erosion issues have required TDOT to close both northbound lanes on Clinch Avenue (S.R. 9) just before South Seivers Blvd (S.R. 61). Northbound traffic has been shifted over, and there is one lane open traveling in each direction across the length of the Lewallen Bridge.

This requires closing one of the left turn lanes from west bound Seivers Blvd onto Clinch Avenue, and also closing one of the southbound lanes from South Main Street approaching Clinch Avenue.

TDOT’s contractor is scheduled to start emergency repairs tomorrow (Sunday morning).
