The Lady Dragons defeated the Cumberland Gap High School Panthers 66-39 on Friday, Dec. 20, for their second game of the Anderson County Christmas Tournament.

Clinton beat Cumberland Gap decisively, dominating the small team from early in the game and keeping them underfoot the entire time with a strong, physical game.

Clinton stole the ball multiple times before the Lady Panthers could get the ball to their own side of the court, and did a strong job of isolating the stronger players in the Lady Panthers’ rotation, especially the players who had given the Lady Mavericks so much trouble the previous night.

A bit of a sticking point for Clinton, though, as it finished the game with a total of 18 fouls, nine in the first quarter and nine in the second, enough for three players to foul out and another to be in foul trouble. The final foul tally for the Panthers was 14, not far behind, but enough for nearly three ejections.

Naiyah Sanders, in particular, had a fantastic game against the Lady Panthers, who continued to drop coverage on her and allow her to shoot threes. Whether she made the shot or not, she capitalized on every opportunity.
