Blaze complete another successful basketball season

Another successful basketball season has come to a close for the Clinton Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams. Both teams played their final games of the 2019 campaign Thursday night at home.

The girls picked up a 31-18 victory over Grace Christian Academy.

Topanga Easterday scored 11 points while Abby Phillips and Jaillie Rodd each added eight for the Lady Blaze, who finished the season with a 14-6 record.

The boys, meanwhile, fell to FOE 43-30 despite getting 12 points from Kaden Webber and nine from Camden Nelson. The Blaze finish the campaign with a 13-8 record.

Clinton City Schools honored the eighth-graders from both teams during the season finale.

On Tuesday, Dec. 17, The Lady Blaze routed Norwood Middle School 27-9. Bethany Lowe scored 11 points and Easterday added six.

The boys also nabbed a win that night, beating Grace Christian Academy 48-21.

Nelson and Grant Hannah each scored 12 points, while Jaxon Alcorn scored nine points and grabbed 14 rebounds.

The Blaze and Lady Blaze opened the final week of the season on Monday, Dec. 16.

The Blaze toppled Pine Knot (Kentucky) 49-8. Clinton got points from 10 different players.

Landry Sharp led the way with 10 points and Andrew Sanders scored eight.

The Lady Blaze notched a 28-25 win over Grace Christian as Lowe had 12 points and Phillips added 10.

Blaze and the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce: The Clinton Blaze athletic program has taken the community by storm and now, the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce is chronicling the program and other day-to-day happenings in Clinton City Schools.

CCS Teachers to Compete in Blaze Teachers Bowling League: Area elementary school teachers will compete in a bowling league at Clinton Community Center. League play begins after the Christmas Break.

Blaze Bowling: The Blaze will begin a second bowling season on March 4.
