Clinton traveled to Washington, D.C., over the holidays, losing to Archbishop Spalding High School.
They then stopped in Frederick, Md., to play against the Cadets -- a game Clinton also lost, 60-50.
The Dragons took an early lead in the first quarter and held on all the way until halfway through the third.
Just before the start of the fourth quarter, the Cadets regained the lead.
Throughout the entirety of the fourth they continued to pull further and further ahead, showing their dominance of Clinton.
Still, the game was close in the statistics.
Clinton finished with an effective field goal percentage of 50 and 11 three-point goals.
What really got Clinton was the turnovers and fouls.
They finished the game with 16 personal fouls, and gave the Cadets 14 free throws.
The Dragons, meanwhile, only got two free-throw attempts the entire game.
When the final score was a 10-point difference and one side gives the other what essentially amounts to nine points – well, it’s hard to say that didn’t have an effect on the outcome of the game.
The Cadets dominated on offensive rebounds (14-6) and barely beat Clinton on defensive rebounds (23-22).
Clinton turned the ball over 24 times, and Frederick scored 21 points from those turnovers.
Jackson Garner finished the game as Clinton’s highest scorer, with 20 points to his name.
Trace Thackerson and Evan Winchester came in second and third respectively, with 12 and 11 points each.
Winchester finished with a total of 15 rebounds as well.
