The Blaze finishes out record-breaking season

The Clinton Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams both concluded stellar seasons in 2019 and Clinton City Schools Athletic Director E.T. Stamey has begun to compile a record book that chronicles milestones in both Blaze and Lady Blaze hoops history.

The Blaze set a 3-point shooting record in 2019 as they made nine long-range jumpers against Norwood Middle School in 2019. The Lady Blaze record for 3-pointers was set in 2018 against Caryville.

Track Underway: The Clinton Blaze track and field teams began their 2020 season Monday as they had their first practice. The teams had success last season and sent one athlete, Kenzlee Hutchison to the Junior Olympics.

Stamey said that the track program is looking forward to more success this season. Stamey said that 40 athletes showed up for the season-opening meeting last week.

First Responders Game: The third annual Police/Firefighters Game has been set for Feb. 15 at Arowood Arena according to Stamey. The Firefighters and Clinton Police Department have split the first two games in the series and Stamey said that CPD will enter the contest as a 3-point favorite.

Blaze Faculty Basketball Game: The Clinton City Schools faculty basketball game is slated for Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. at Arowood Arena and Stamey said he is seeking CCS teachers and faculty members to sign up to play. Limited tickets are

Bowling: Bowling also began on Feb.3.

Bowling is an intramural league and had a successful first season in 2019.

The Blaze track team had a successful campaign last spring with one athlete, Kenzlee Hutchison, qualifying for the Junior Olympics. The team will be coached by Terri Kerley and Stamey said that the program is looking forward to more success in 2020.

Blaze and the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce: The Clinton Blaze athletic program has taken the community by storm and now, the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce is chronicling the program and other day-to-day happenings in Clinton City Schools.

CCS Teachers to Compete in Blaze Teachers Bowling League: Area elementary school teachers will compete in a bowling league at Clinton Community Center. League play begins after the Christmas Break.

Blaze Bowling: The Blaze will begin a second bowling season on March 4. 2020.
