Anderson Democrats will host county presidential convention
The Anderson County Democratic Party will host the Democratic County Presidential Convention on Saturday, March 7, in the Great Room of the Clinton Community Center, 101 Hicks St., Clinton.
Those attending the convention will select representatives from the county to attend the district convention March 21.
The doors will open for registration at noon March 7. The convention begins at 1 p.m., and doors will close then.
The convention is open to all registered voters in the county who are supporters of the Democratic Party, who have voted in the March 2020 Democratic presidential primary, and who agree to support the nominee of the Democratic Party in the 2020 presidential election.
At the convention, caucuses will be held for the top vote-getting presidential candidates in the Third Congressional District, based on the results of the March 3 primary election.
The convention and caucuses are the first step to electing pledged delegates from Tennessee to the Democratic National Convention beginning July 13 in Milwaukee.
The second step will be the Saturday, March 21, Democratic Party Congressional District Convention, where pledged delegates from Tennessee’s congressional districts to the national convention will be elected. At the Democratic National Convention, the delegates will participate in selecting the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.
The Clinton Community Center has an entrance accessible for those with disabilities on the east side of the building, off of West Broad Street. Handicap parking spaces are located there.
Information about becoming a delegate and rules governing the delegate selection process are available on the Tennessee Democratic Party’s web site, tndp.org, or from the Tennessee Democratic Party, 319 Plus Park Blvd., Suite 203, Nashville, TN 37217.
