Clinton swimmers earn their place at districts

District Swimming and Diving Championships at UT

January 24th and 25th marked the high school and middle school district swimming and diving championships at the University of Tennessee Aquatic Center, hosting thirty-four teams from across East Tennessee.

Three Clinton Swimmers placed in the top three in their district. Carl Helus placed first in the individual medley and second in the fifty back. Savannah Miniard placed second in the 100-yard free, and third in the 50-yard free.

Carl Helus, Ethan Yonce, Isaac Childers, and David Holt all competed to place ninth in the 200-yard medley, while Sarah Beth Petrzak, Sarah Helus, Savannah Miniard, and Riley Owens competed in the girls 200-yard medley and finished twelfth place.

Jacob Reasor placed second in the diving competition and qualified for the state finals.

Other notable standouts from the championships:



• Sarah Helus placed 11th in the 50-yard fly

• Sarah Beth Peterzak placed 15th in the 100-yard free

• Isaac Childers placed 16th in the 50-yard breaststroke





All of the individual Clinton swimmers dropped times on their individual races.
