Lady Mavs finish a long, hard run
Lady Mavs drop to Oliver Springs at the end of a long, hard season.
The Lady Mavericks hosted Oliver Springs on Thursday, February 13, for a non-conference matchup on their senior night. The Lady Mavs lost 21-54.
The game was one-sided from the start with the Mavs losing out in the first quarter 8-17. Though AC really stepped up in the second quarter, keeping Oliver Springs to only eight points in the quarter, they couldn’t outscore them. Instead, Anderson County lost the quarter by two, and, after the half, Oliver Springs came back with a vengeance, dominating both of the last two quarters by double digits.
Anderson County shot an effective field goal percentage of 28-percent. Kylee Alvis led the team with seven points and five rebounds. Behind Alvis, Lydia Meldrum scored six points with two steals and two assists. Meldrum also scored two of the team’s five treys.
