Blaze hosting pancake meal March 14

The Clinton Blaze had its annual staff vs. players game on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Arowood Arena and the game was played before a standing-room-only crowd.

The Orange/Black Team beat the White Team 65-40 before the 18th consecutive sell-out basketball crowd to witness a Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball game.

Topanga Easterday was the top scorer for the girls’ Orange and Black with eight. Kaden Webber had nine points on the strength of three three-pointers, and was the top male scorer for the Orange and Black Team.

Jaxon Alcorn had 10 points for the White Team and Lady Blaze assistant coach Lauren Murphy finished with six.

Blaze/Lady Blaze Hoops Record Book: The Clinton Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams both concluded stellar seasons in 2019. Clinton City Schools Athletic Director E.T. Stamey has begun to compile a record book that chronicles milestones in both Blaze and Lady Blaze hoops history.

The Blaze single-game rebound record is 14, held by Jaxon Alcorn. Alcon set the mark against Grace Christian Academy in 2019. The Lady Blaze record is shared by Kenzlee Hutchison and Abby Phillips. Hutchison had seven boards against Episcopal School of Knoxville, and Phillips had seven against St. Mary’s, both last season.

Giving Back: Student athletes from Clinton High School read to students at North Clinton Elementary School recently.

The Blaze Special Olympics Pancake Breakfast will be held on Saturday. March 14, at the Apple Blossom Cafe in Clinton at 8 a.m. Tickets are $5.

Track underway: The Clinton Blaze track and field teams have begun their 2020 season.
