Lions share how to make a mask

Kathi Browne, former Lions Club member from Maryville, suggested a mask-making project for Lions to do at home to help with the COVID-19 virus response.

Her husband is Mark Browne, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer for Covenant Hospitals, and he has given his approval for the masks to be used at all Covenant facilities.

“As we all know there is a desperate need for face masks in our hospitals and nursing homes,” Kathie Browne said.

“We can help take some of the pressure off by making face masks for non-surgical purposes for our local hospitals and nursing homes.

Masks need to be made of 100-percent cotton.

Recommended are t-shirt fabric or cotton sheets and pillowcases with tight weaves,” said Browne.

There are two types of masks: one with a pouch for a filter the hospital will supply. and the other without the pouch.
