County’s early voting numbers for Aug. 6 election remain steady
1,059 paper ballots received
Anderson Countians had already cast 4,300 early ballots for the Aug. 6 election as of Monday, July 27.
The first day of early voting in Anderson County still has the largest turnout with 778 ballots being cast. The second-highest daily total was July 24, with 614 ballots being cast.
Of those 4,300 voters taking part in early voting, 1,481 took part in the Democratic Primary and 2,789 in the Republican Primary. Anderson County Election Commission lists 983 mail-in ballots received.
Oak Ridge has had 1,395 ballots cast through Monday, July 27, with Clinton having 1,185, and Andersonville with 661. There have been 76 ballots cast through nursing homes. Early voting continues through Aug. 1. Locations are:
• The Anderson County Government Building in the Anderson Crossing center at the junction of Andersonville Highway and U.S. 441;
• Midtown Community Center in Oak Ridge (The Wildcat Den) near the new Kroger grocery store;
• The Anderson County Fairgrounds, which has been selected because the Clinton Community Center, which was the usual Clinton early voting site, remains closed because of COVID-19.
