Rotary Club of Oak Ridge completes year, recognizes several accomplishments

The Rotary Club of Oak Ridge recently completed its 2019-2020 year at the June 25 meeting via Zoom, duing which outgoing President Jennifer Enderson, presented the end of year report, club awards, and induction of new officers and board members.

Several achievements included completing seven community projects encompassing 3,452 volunteer hours by 101 club volunteers, $10,191 cash contributions, $208,703 in-kind contributions, and $81,329 total economic impact.

The club also awarded six club grants, four vocational service awards/scholarships and actively participated with the Rotary Youth Exchange and Oak Ridge High School Interact Club.

Outstanding accomplishments were recognized with the presentation of awards to the following members: Silent Rotarian -Ed Johnson; Professional Excellence - Darrell Richardson; Rising Star - Wendie Aurin; Outstanding Dedicated Service Club Secretary - Anne Dunthorn; Rookie of the Year - Emily Rice; and Rotarian of the Year - Nikki Adkisson.

Club honors received at the District level included: Rotary Citation with one Presidential Distinction, Super Star Club +6, Globe Club, Reach Award, Youth Event Service (YES) Level 5, $250 Club Members (12), Polio Eradicator Club, William Sergeant 101 (380.92), Lacy Bomar Award of Excellence (International Service 1st Place, Community Service Third Place, Printed Bulletin First Place) and Rotarian of the Year Elaine Bunick.

“It has been my privilege to serve as President of the Rotary Club of Oak Ridge,” said Jennifer Enderson.

“We have a remarkable group of philanthropic members in our club who give so much to our community both personally and professionally as demonstrated by everything the club accomplished this year. I have been a member of Rotary for many years and continue to appreciate and be inspired by the people in our club.”

Officers inducted for the 2020/2021 year include: Tracy Boatner, President; Naomi Asher, President-Elect; James C Ratliff, Vice President; Emily Rice, Club Executive Secretary and Wendie Aurin, Treasurer.

The Rotary Club of Oak Ridge’s first organizational meeting was Dec. 11, 1945 and the club currently has 96 members.
