Mavs start region title defense with 42-0 shutout

Anderson County travelled to Chattanooga to face off against Hixson, where they kept their streak against the Wildcats alive by walking away with a resounding 42-0 victory.

The Mavs started the game off strong, with their first touchdown coming only 43 seconds into the first quarter from a 10-yard run from Gavin Noe. Nick Moog, Bryson Vowell, Luke Hensley, and Joshua Miller all made touchdowns throughout the game.

Stat-wise, the Mavericks dominated on the field with 244 net rushing yards to the Wildcats’ 74, and 224 net passing yards to the Wildcats’ two yards. The Mavs averaged 7.4 yards per rush, and 16 yards per completed pass, finishing with a total of 468 yards across the game and an average gain of nine yards per play. The Wildcats, meanwhile, finished with only 76 total yards for the whole game, averaging two yards a play, and managing only six first downs throughout all four quarters and only a single first down conversion out of eight attempts.

Gavin Noe led the Mavs on rushing, finishing with 141 yards, while Nick Moog and Josh Miller came in as the runners-up, with 46 and 30 yards respectively. Stone Hatmaker and Walker Martinez both passed for over 100 yards throughout the game, while Bryson Vowel, Joshua Miller, and Cam Thomas all led the team on receiving yards.

Eli Nelson had both of the team’s sacks, costing Hixson 29 yards, while Miller got the Mavs’ only interception.
