Two killed in motorcycle crash

A Clinton man driving a motorcycle and his passenger, a Knoxville woman, were killed last Thursday in a motorcycle-car collision on Clinton Highway.

Zachary Johnson, 24, of Clinton, who was driving the 2004 Honda motorcycle, and his passenger, 31-year-old Stephanie Whitaker of Knoxville, were pronounced dead at the scene of the 2:45 p.m. crash.

Casey Hall of Heiskell, 38, was driving a 2001 Honda Accord south on US 25W (Clinton Highway) when he attempted to turn left onto East Wolf Valley Road, pulling into the path of Johnson, a Tennessee Highway Patrol report stated.

The collision threw Johnson and Whitaker from the motorcycle. The report said both were wearing helmets. Hall was wearing a seatbelt, the report said. He was not injured.

The report stated unspecified charges are pending against Hall. per procedure, drug and alcohol tests were taken of both drivers.
