Anderson County beat Clinton Sept. 29 in an away game against the volleyball Dragons after beating them 3-0 earlier this season.

The Lady Mavericks won 3-0.

The first set started evenly, with both teams staying neck and neck until Kelsea Marlowe’s turn to serve, when the Lady Mavericks first took a major lead, putting themselves up 8-5. The Lady Dragons couldn’t close the gap and Anderson County pulled away to win the first set 25-13.

Clinton took the first two points in the second set, but lost the lead during Jayce Braden’s turn to serve, when Braden put the Lady Mavs up 5-2. Bailey Wilder and Erin Cantrell both led large streaks for the Lady Mavericks, with Wilder netting five points for the Lady Mavericks to put them up 17-8, and Cantrell finishing the job with an eight-point streak to put the Mavs ahead for a final score of 25-8 in the second set.

The third set was the closest, but still not close enough for the Lady Dragons. Anderson County took a strong lead on its third turn serving, with Matti Rowland leading the team from 3-1 to 10-1.

Marlowe followed Rowland in the serve order and took the Lady Mavs up to a 15-3 lead. The final score for the set was 25-14.
