It’s not every day of the week you see $300,000 cars tooling down Main Street in Rocky Top.

It’s not every day of the week you see $300,000 cars tooling down any main street.

Last week, the Crown Rally, a “positive ambassador for the Rally4ACause Foundation,” passed through Anderson County as part of the Crown South Rally, which ran from Chicago to Charlotte, N.C.

The Rally4ACause Foundation called the Crown South Rally the, “Longest and most luxurious event to date. We’ll launch from Chicago on Thursday morning with overnights included in Louisville, Asheville, and Charlotte until finishing at the Shriners Children’s Hospital on Sunday, just outside of Charlotte.”

The Crown South Rally was from Oct. 8–11. Cars involved included Lamborghinis and Porsches. Perhaps the least-expensive car in the pack was a Corvette.

The Crown Rally website explained the mission of the rallies:

“Since our first rally in 2014, all Crown Rally events have been a #rally4acause. In 2018, several Crown Rally staff and veteran ralliers wanted to further our ability to create positive social impact, so the #rally4acause initiative became the Rally4ACause Foundation. Now we’re able to work much more efficiently, increase our reach, and most importantly help support additional organizations in need.”

In the past those organizations included the Epilepsy Foundation, Hear the Cheers, and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The Crown Rally brought in $39,136 in donations is 2016. In 2019 the amount brought in jumped to $104,863.

The final amount for the 2020 rally will be announced at a later date.
