Due to pandemic, Blaze hoops will be at Don Lockard Gym
The Blaze and Lady Blaze cross country teams competed in a state qualifying meet Saturday and had one athlete qualify for the upcoming State Championships.
Uriyah Pickett advanced to the state meet as he posted a 1-mile time of 6 minutes, 42 seconds.
Other top times for Clinton included: Corryn May (1-mile, 7:56); Anima Fox (2-mile, 22:39) and Alec Metchikoff (2-mile, 17:12).
Cross Country Schedule: The State Championships are scheduled for Oct. 24 at the Knoxville Livestock Center.
The Clinton Blaze Athlete of the Week Presented by C&D Printing: The athlete of the week is Isaiah Williams.
The Clinton Blaze and Lady Blaze Basketball Teams will play their home games at the Clinton High School’s Don Lockard Gym.
Clinton City Schools Athletic Director E.T. Stamey said he is working on the schedule and that tryouts are tentatively set for sometime in November.
Home games were moved due to social distancing protocols during the coronavirus pandemic.
Basketball Tryouts: Tryouts for the Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams will begin on Nov. 9.
Basketball Fundraiser: The Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams will host a pancake breakfast on Dec. 12 at the Apple Blossom from 8-10 a.m. Price is $5 per person.
Track Renovations: The elementary school track and outdoor basketball courts will be renovated soon. Stamey, who is overseeing the project, said that the track will be resealed and relined and added that the basketball courts will relined to include a three-point arc.
