Blaze earn ‘Excellence in Education’ award from TSBA

The Clinton City Blaze program has been granted the Tennessee School Boards Association’s Award for Excellence in Education Program.

In a statement to Clinton City Schools and Athletic Director E.T. Stamey, the TSBA said, “We commend you and your system for this achievement.”

The Clinton City Board of Education and superintendent will be recognized during a virtual awards ceremony at noon Nov. 12.

The Clinton Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams will play their home games at the Clinton Community Center, according to Stamey

The Blaze and Lady Blaze were scheduled to play their home games at Clinton High School due to social-distancing protocols created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stamey said the season is scheduled to open on Dec. 3 when the Blaze and Lady Blaze host Grace Christian Academy.

Basketball Tryouts: Tryouts for the Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams will begin on Nov. 9.

The Clinton Blaze Athlete of the Week Presented by C&D Printing: will return in basketball season.

Dance Team Auditions: Tryouts for the 2020 Blaze dance team will be held on Monday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 12 at South Clinton Elementary School from 3:15-4:15 p.m.

Students will be taught a routine on Nov. 9 and return for auditions on Nov. 12.

Blaze Coat Drive: The Blaze coat drive is ongoing. To donate, message Stamey on the Clinton City Blaze Facebook Page.

Archery Class: Clinton City Schools athletics director E.T. Stamey said that he plans on beginning an archery class for the 2020-2021 academic year. It will be part of the academic curriculum.

Swim season: The Blaze swim teams will look to begin their 2020 campaign in mid-November.

Stamey said that he’s hoping to partner the Blaze swim team with Clinton Middle School in an effort for the Blaze to compete in more meets.

The Lady Blaze record for three-point shots in a season is three. Bethany Lowe holds that mark.

Basketball Fundraiser: The Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams will host a pancake breakfast on Dec. 12 at the Apple Blossom Cafe from 8-10 a.m. Price is $5 per person.
