Fresh fruits and vegetables along with a variety of other items are now available at a new store that opened about a month ago in South Clinton.

Three Sisters Produce & More is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 1110 Clinch Avenue, between Taylor Plumbing and Shylocks Pawn.

The owner is Jeff Shackelford, who named the store in honor of his three daughters, all of whom help in the business.

They are 15-year-old identical twins Kaylee and Haylee, and their 14-year-old sister Christa.

Their dad now drives a truck full time, but plans to retire from that job next May and then begin working full time in the store, Kaylee Shackelford said last week. He has operated produce stores in the past, she added.

The girls’ mother, Mendy Shackelford, owns and operates the Scottie’s restaurant in Powell, Kaylee said.

Also working in the produce store is Mendy Shackelford’s sister, Susan Appling, and her daughter, Sabrina Palmer.

Three Sisters gets much of its produce from Asheville, North Carolina. Tomatoes come from Grainger County, Tennessee.

Among produce items in the store are several varieties of potatoes, along with onions, apples, oranges, plums, bananas, squash, and sweet potatoes.

The store also sells nuts, candles, honey, molasses, local jams and jellies, eggs, several types of bagged candy, and more.

Jams, honey and molasses come in jars from Spring Valley Farms.
