Miller earns Leadership medal from Lions international
In October, past president Fred Miller of the Clinton Lions Club got a shock when he received a letter addressed to him from Lions Clubs International.
The letter informed him that he was receiving a Leadership Medal for the 2019-20 Lions year.
He was selected because the Clinton Lions Club finished among the Top 20 Lions Clubs in the United States, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico for the Service Reporting Challenge.
This is based on the number of service projects reported to Lions Clubs International.
In spite of the pandemic, the Clinton Lions Club is still providing service to the community.
Last fall, the Clinton Lions Club had again screened students from Anderson County and Clinton City schools, as well as preschoolers at Second Baptist Church.
Working with local eyecare professionals, they continue to assist in the purchase of eyeglasses for those who need assistance.
They provided Thanksgiving dinners to 40 families who otherwise may not have had one.
Also, they provided boxes of groceries to five families for Christmas.
They continue to live up to the Lions Motto: “We Serve.”
