Middle school Mavs bounce back from loss to CAK
The Mavericks middle school team had a mixed week after a 6-2 loss to Christian Academy of Knoxville Middle School on Tuesday, April 20, where the Mavs dropped the lead early and struggled to catch up.
But they followed with an 11-3 win against Campbell County on Thursday, April 22.
In the team’s loss, Blake Lowe pitched for the Mavs, finishing with 11 first-pitch strikes and four strikeouts, as well as a WHIP of 1.8 (walks plus hits per inning pitched) before being relieved by Michael Wright, who finished with six first-pitch strikes.
Will Ridenour and Jackson Hill led the team at the plate, each finishing with a single RBI, while Trent Strickland also managed a hit to get on base for the Mavericks.
Following that loss, the Mavs traveled to Campbell County, where they won while posting 12 hits and committing three errors.
Tripp Haire, Easton Beaty, and Blake Lowe all managed two hits apiece to lead the team at the plate, with Trent Strickland managing four RBIs. Noah Parks and Tripp Haire both finished with two RBIs apiece.
At the plate, Easton Beaty and Trent Haire split pitching duties, with Beaty managing seven strikeouts across three innings and Haire managing three strikeouts across two. Both pitchers finished with six first-pitch strikes.
Haire finished with a WHIP of 1.50, while Beaty finished with a 2.00.
