Middle Mavs have mixed week on the diamond
A mixed week for the Anderson County Middle School Mavericks last week as they wont out 9-5 over North Loudon on Monday, April 26 before moving on to lose to Seymour Eagles in a close 6-5 game.
In their first game, Noah Parks and Blake Lowe pitched for the Mavs, with Parks managing four strikeouts and eight first pitch strikes across three innings, finishing with a WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) of 2.67. Lowe, meanwhile, finished with three first pitch strikes and three strikeouts in a single inning, finishing with a WHIP of 2.25.
At the plate, Wyatt Lawson led the team on hits with two, while Will Ridenour led the team on RBI with two.
Following the game against North Loudon, the Mavs hosted Seymour. After allowing two runs in the first inning, the Mavs struggled to play catch up for the rest of the game, ultimately losing 6-5.
Michael Wright led on the mound that game, pitching for two innings and finishing with six first pitch strikes and a single strikeout. Trent Strickland also pitched for the Mavs, finishing with four strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.50, while at the mound, Wyatt Lawson again led the team with a single hit, while Blake Lowe led on RBI with two.
On Friday, the Mavs hosted Knoxville Catholic Middle School, losing 15-3 after giving up an early lead and finishing with five errors. Will Lawson, Tripp Haire, and AJ Colorusso split pitching duties. Lawson finished with 11 first pitch strikes, while Haire finished with two strikeouts and Colorusso finished with a WHIP of 1.00.
Finally, the Mavs travelled to face Clinton Middle School, losing 5-3 after a late score by Clinton.

Strickland also split pitching duties with Blake Lowe for the game, with Lowe finishing the game with six first pitch strikes and three strikeouts, while Strickland finished with five first pitch strikes and five strikeouts. Lowe finished with a WHIP of 1.88, while Strickland finished with a WHIP of 3.43.
