Lady Mavs sweep twinbill from Central

Take 1-0 and 9-0 shutouts

The Lady Mavs hosted Knoxville Central for a double-header on Thursday, April 29, beating the Lady Bobcats in both games, first 1-0 in a low-scoring game, followed by a blowout 9-0.

In the first match, Reese Simpson pitched across all five innings for the Lady Mavericks, finishing with 14 first pitch strikes, three strikeouts, and a WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) of 0.40.

At the plate, Jade Richards led the team, finishing with the only RBI of the game during one of Anderson County’s only two hits of the game.

Makayla Simmons worked a walk to get on base.

In the second game of the night, the Lady Mavs started strong, scoring five runs at the top of the first inning.

Two pitchers teamed up for the second game to help take down the Lady Bobcats again, those being Reese Simpson pitching again and Makayla Simmons pitching for a single inning. Simpson finished with three strikeouts and eight first pitch strikes, as well as a WHIP of 1.25.

Meanwhile at the plate, Jade Richards led the team on hits with two, while McKenna Miller tied with Jade Richards and MaKenzie Henderson all tied for first place on RBI with two apiece.
