School year comes to a close and Blaze wind down
The 2020-21 school year is now in the rearview mirror and the Clinton Blaze and Lady Blaze completed their athletics seasons with an intrasquad track and field meet at Clinton High School on Tuesday.
The year saw Clinton’s elementary school athletics begin an archery program.
Both the Blaze and Lady Blaze cross-country teams had some stellar showings in the fall.
It was also another successful year for the dance team and the Clinton Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams.
Intramural bowling was back for a third season, and the Blaze had a second tennis season thanks to a second consecutive clinic.
Clinton City Schools will have graduation today (May 26) before the Blaze and Lady Blaze resume competition with cross country in August.
Blaze coat drive: The Blaze coat drive is ongoing. To donate, message CCS Athletics Director E.T. Stamey on the Clinton City Blaze Facebook page.
Blaze boys basketball camp: The Blaze boys basketball camp will be held July 7-9.
Blaze and Lady Blaze continue to get community support. Stamey said that fundraising for the athletic program continues to flourish despite financial hardship caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
