Clinton City Schools have five athletes going to AAU Junior Olympics

Five student-athletes with ties to Clinton City Schools have qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics.

They are Clinton Middle School’s Kenzlee Hutchison, who earned All-America Honors at the 2020 Junior Olympics, and Adeline Queener, Hadley Webb, Charlotte Hutchison and Katie Ann Dodson.

These athletes who qualified for next month’s event in Houston, Texas, include a 2020 All-America standout who competed for the Clinton Blaze before moving on to Clinton Middle School, a Clinton City Schools student who does not compete for the Blaze as she is involved in gymnastics during the track-and-field season, and three current Blaze student-athletes.

During the summer season, the five are part of Knoxville Youth Athletics.

The qualifiers made the national stage at the regional meet last weekend at Knoxville’s Hardin Valley Academy.

Queener made the field in Houston in three events including the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay.

She took third in the 400, came in fourth in the 200, and was part of the 4x100 relay team that finished second in Knoxville.

Kenzlee Hutchison will compete in both the discus and the shotput. She came in third in the discus and fourth in the shot put.

Webb finished second in her age group in the shot put.

Charlotte Hutchison, Kenzlee’s younger sister who was also an All-America standout last summer, qualified for the 2021 Junior Olympics by posting sixth-finish in the shot put.

Dodson, who also competes in gymnastics, qualified for next month’s meet by claiming fourth in the long jump in her age group.
