Winners all around

A note from ...

Clinton may not have won against Oak Ridge Friday night in the 60th meeting between the schools, but both communities did.

The Dragons came out not only in all-black uniforms, but with 13 American Flags honoring the 13 soldiers who lost their lives in Kabul last month. It was a fitting tribute that not only brought tears to people’s eyes, but also got deafening applause.

The Lady Dragons softball team had a tough week playing the Lady Mavericks and Lady Redskins from Loudon in back-to-back games. They may have lost both, but they fought hard, and in the Loudon game, scored in the first minute by Malia Kim and had some amazing saves by Sarah Burton. The Lady Dragons look to get back on the winning track against Webb on Tuesday and Oliver Springs Thursday.

In case you missed it, WBIR held a pep rally Friday at Clinton on the newly turfed football field.

About 400 of Clinton’s rowdiest fans and members of the community showed up, including the national mullet winner, 2003 grad Clint Duncan.

The highlight of the morning was the dance-off featuring members of the cheerleading team, and co-athletic director and baseball coach Rob Stacy, who landed a split live on-air.
