Lady Lakers take two in the mountains

The Lady Lakers were back on the road Thursday night, traveling to Jellico and then White Oak.

Four Lakers got their first varsity start during the first set. The Lakers fought valiantly, but were unable to secure the victory in the first set.

The starting rotation entered for the second set, and the Lakers jumped out to a 9-1 lead in that set. Jellico fought back, but Dakotah Berlin took over the game with strong hitting and floorplay.

The Lady Lakers had a strong serving showing from Emerie Bullock in every set, getting 21 points in three sets on serves alone.

Julia Owens put up seven serves in the second match. In the third set the Lakers were too much for Jellico, winning 15-5.

The Lakers then drove further up the mountain to play White Oak. The Lady Lakers took White Oak down in two quick sets, as all servers scored points off their serves.

The serving proved to be just too much for White Oak as the Lakers improved to 8-1 in Area 2 play on the season.

Next up were the Norris Senators on Monday, Sept. 13. Come out and support your Lady Lakers: The District Tournament is Sept. 18, and Sectional Tournament Sept. 25.

Times and locations will be announced.
