Is it Week 6 already?

From the “Don’t count your chickens …” department, Anderson County High School’s football Mavericks had a statement win Friday night in Region 2-4A.

A win taken on the road.

Against a very good South Doyle team.

Sure looks like those early tests against Powell, Science Hill, and Rhea County were good preparation for a young Mav team.

Don’t overlook Carter, though.

I saw something pretty impressive last Friday night.

Besides the Clinton football defense, that is.

Clinton fans showed up in force at Powell High School for the Dragons’ region tilt against the third-ranked 5A team in the state. The “change” really is now.

For all basketball fans, Clinton hoops will open the 2021-2022 season Nov. 16 at McMinn County. The Dragons’ first home game is Nov. 23 against Powell.

Seems just like yesterday we were getting all psyched for the opening on football. It’s hard to believe the season is going into Week 6 already.
