Purses & Pearls luncheon and auction was a success

EDITOR:

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all who supported and attended the second-annual Purses & Pearls Luncheon, Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Faith Promise Church in Clinton.

The event was organized around women in business, and $5,000 of the proceeds of the auction benefited the Isaiah 117 House of Anderson County.

Please join me in thanking our presenting sponsor, Kimball’s Jewelry; ruby sponsors, 3M Company, Bridgewater Balance & Hearing, The Lantern at Morning Point-Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence Clinton, Y-12 Federal Credit Union; pearl sponsors, CNS/Y-12, Catawba Corporations, Clinch River Mercantile, Fox Toyota, HouseMaster, ORUD Natural Gas, PCUD Natural Gas, Paschal Solutions Inc.; and opal sponsors, Bristol Park of Oak Ridge, Meadow View Senior Living LLC, Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and Southern Bank of Tennessee.

Our special thanks to our keynote speaker, Ronda Paulson, founder and executive director of Isaiah 117 House. And a thank you to Lori Tucker with WATE Channel 6 News for being our emcee. Attendees enjoyed scrumptious lunch from By The Tracks Catering.

Thank you to everyone who donated items to the auction: Bridgewater Balance & Hearing, Jessica Grooms, Tammy Gross, Jane Haney, Lerissa’s, The Pink Placebo Gift Shop, Patricia Nash, Peters Jewelers, Davi Shetterly, Sharon Templeton, Emily Rios, and Plunder-Cindy Whaley

A special thanks to those who donated door prizes for the event: Anderson County Nutrition, Bridgewater Balance & Hearing, Clinch River Brewing LLC, Clinton Nutrition, Hoskins in the Flat, HouseMaster, Lizzy Love Photography, Museum of Appalachia, and Plunder-Cindy Whaley.

Goody bag items were provided by: Mary Kay Cosmetics — Debbie Sellers, Oak Ridge Breast Center, and PromoJoe.

A special thanks to Robbie DeJarnette, pastor of Faith Promise, for the use of the church’s beautiful and spacious facility. Thank you to Dustan Hollifield for his assistance with audio/visual and lighting.

And, we would be amiss if we did not thank auctioneer William “Bear” Stephenson of Stephenson Realty & Auction for the always entertaining live auction of the Purses & Pearls.

The success of this event can be contributed to these dedicated individuals.

In addition to their support on the day of the event, the committee met for many months prior to plan and organize. A special thanks to the chair and co-chair of the Purses & Pearls Committee, Jessica Grooms and Tammy Gross. Committee members Peggy Adcock, Amanda Brackett, Pam Forgety, Jane Haney, Angel Orenstein, Emily Rios, Debbie Sellers, Sharon Templeton and Cindy Whaley, thank you.

Special thanks and appreciation to the chamber staff: Janet Hawkins, Jared Forgety, Jackie Patton, Marsha Stapleton and Katherine Birkbeck. Their contribution was major. They spent many hours in the weeks prior to the event problem solving, coordinating, and attending to last-minute details. They facilitated the auction, door prizes, sponsors, and logistics.

We hope we have not missed thanking anyone who helped make this event such a success. If so, we apologize. THANK YOU.

The committee has already convened to begin planning next year’s event. We hope you can join us.
