Norris Lions donate to Clinch River Trout Unlimited
The Clinch River Chapter of Trout Unlimited has received a donation from the Norris Lions Club
On October 8th, 2021 Norris Lions Club.
Club President Jennifer Hayes, and members Jim Hayes, Teri Langheld, and Wayne Morris attended a meeting of the Clinch River Chapter of Trout Unlimited, where they presented a check for $1,000 to the chapter.
The donation was made in memory of John Thurman, who was a member of both Trout Unlimited and Norris Lions Club. Also, the members were able to learn more about Trout Unlimited and the work the group does in the community.
Trout Unlimited is involved in a number of programs, such as cleaning rivers, streams, lakes; teaching fishing skills to various groups such as women, children, and veterans; frequently taking part in “Casting for Recovery, a program for women recovering from breast cancer; and more.
Recently, the group joined with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Tennessee Tech University to do a fish sampling on the Clinch River.
The Norris Lions Club’s $1,000 donation will assist in helping with these projects and buying necessary equipment for its members to successfully carry out these endeavors, while also honoring the memory of John Thurman, a member esteemed by both organizations.
