Dragons torch Powell
However, the first quarter was anything but dominant for the Dragons as Powell jumped out to a 19-13 lead. During the break before the second quarter, Clinton Coach Chris Lockard and his staff made adjustments.
It showed on the scoreboard as the Dragons came out breathing fire and sinking shots from all over the floor. They took a 39-24 lead into halftime.
The huge second quarter was largely the difference in the game as Clinton extended its lead to 55-37 in the third quarter. The Panthers were unable to cut into the Dragon’s lead down the stretch and Clinton claimed its third win of the season to improve to 3-1.
Jackson Garner led all scorers with 21 points but scorers were plenty for the Dragons as three other players finished in double digits - Lane Harrison had 18 points, Rishon Bright had 14 points, and Jeremiah Blauvelt finished with 11 points.
The Dragons hosted Karns Tuesday night in another non-district tilt.
Clinton visits crosstown rival Anderson County Friday for the first district contest for both teams. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
