Mavs get tough loss at the hands of the Rebels
The Anderson County Mavericks suffered a tough loss at Maryville on Tuesday night by a score of 70-58.
The Mavs got off to a good start with a three-point lead in the first quarter, powered largely by the scoring of Brandon McGhee.
The Red Rebels bounced back in the second quarter to take a 31-29 lead into the half.
Anderson County responded with a big third quarter to tie the game at 46-46, as Connor Martin and Ryan McGhee helped push the offense.
The game was decided in the fourth quarter as Maryville outscored the Mavs 24-12 in the final eight minutes to pull away for the win.
But the final score did not reflect how close the game actually was.
Brandon McGhee led all scorers with 24 points.
Martin had 13 points and Ryan McGhee added 10 points.
