Lady Dragons earn OT win vs. Hardin, take loss at Oak Ridge
The Clinton Lady Dragons picked up a 62-54 overtime win over visiting Hardin Valley on Senior Night last Thursday.
The Lady Hawks took a 17-11 first-quarter lead as Sarah Burton and Bailey Burroughs provided the scoring for the Lady Dragons.
Clinton responded with 16 points in the second quarter as Ally York joined the scoring. The Lady Dragons led 27-23 at the half. Both teams shot the ball well in the third quarter as Belle Starnes added a 3-pointer to help Clinton to a 44-38 lead. The Lady Hawks refused to go away and outscored the Lady Dragons 14-7 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
The extra frame belonged to Clinton as Burton dropped in all 10 points for the Lady Dragons to give them the win.
Burton led all scorers with 34 points, while Burroughs added 12 and York had 10.

The Lady Dragons ended the regular season Monday night with a 71-36 loss at Oak Ridge.
Clinton played with intensity in the first quarter as York and Sydney Herrell connected on 3-pointers to keep pace with the Lady Wildcats. Burton scored the last seven Clinton points in the quarter as the game entered the second quarter tied at 13-13. A basket by Burroughs gave Clinton the lead and York added another 3-pointer to make it an 18-13 game early in the quarter. Burton went to the bench in foul trouble and Oak Ridge took advantage. The Lady Dragons had a hard time breaking the Lady Wildcats full court press and struggled defensively as Oak Ridge went on a 15-0 run. They ended the half on a 7-0 run to lead Clinton 35-20 at the break.
Both teams traded baskets until the latter part of the third quarter when the Lady Wildcats went on a 10-0 run to lead 51-26.
Oak Ridge kept the press on in the fourth quarter as the Lady Dragons struggled to score.
Burton led Clinton with 10 points.
The Lady Dragons (15-10, 5-1 in district play) will face host Anderson County in the district tournament on Friday at 6 p.m. The winner of the game will play on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. while the loser will play Monday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m.
