Clinton’s Shrout tops field in 5k Love Run

More than 125 runners signed up for the 5k Love Run and one mile fun run/walk Saturday in Norris.

The event was a fundraiser for the Child Advocacy Center of Anderson County.

Runners participated in temperatures that hovered in the mid-30s during the event.

Clinton’s Seth Shrout finished first in the 5k Love Run with a time 20:40, holding an average pace of 6:28 a mile.

Shrout said he’d hoped to break the 20-minute barrier. When told his time, he said, “Ill take it.”

Cassandra Hearn of Knoxville was the first female to cross the finish line, with a time of 25:27 and average of 8.12 a mile. She finished 10th overall.
