Herbie Clark learned a valuable lesson in life at a very young age.

Before he attended East Tennessee State University and served his country in the U.S. Army, before working at a bank, he learned a simple lesson:

“Be good to people.”

Clark’s State Farm Insurance agency will celebrate its 50th year in business next Tuesday, March 15, with a yet-to-be-revealed celebration.

“The ladies have something planned,” he said. “They won’t tell me what. I guess just an open house. Something like that.”

“The ladies,” as Clark calls them, are his co-workers in the office at 601 S. Charles G Seivers Blvd. in Clinton.

Yes, there will be an open house.

But Clark says the day will as much as him saying, “Thank you” to his community as it is the community celebrating the longevity of his business.

Clark said his father ran a gas station … No, a “service station” in downtown Clinton way back when
