Day running for County Commission
The district includes the Clinton Community Center, North Clinton and South Clinton precincts.
He is a 1967 graduate of Clinton High School, and an honors graduate of University of Tennessee, Knoxville, 1976, with double majors in political science and history
Day completed some graduate work in public administration and law at UT-Knoxville and the University of Memphis in 1977-1979
He is a Vietnam veteran who served from 1968-1973 with the U.S. Marine Corps., and held the rank of sergeant in 1970-71.
Day and his wife, Kay, owned and operated a small business in Clinton for nearly 20 years, selling military surplus and collectable firearms from all over the world.
He said that in 2010, “I suffered a major stroke causing me to discontinue my business. I had much support from my family and friends. I have been on my own since.
“My most-devastating loss was Kay, my wife of 30 years. to ovarian cancer in 2015,” he said.
“I have been a major supporter of the Anderson County Senior Center and have been a life member of American Legion Post 172 and lifetime member of the Clinton Church of Christ.
“Born and raised in Clinton, I share your Anderson County roots and your East Tennessee values.”
