ACHS and CHS track teams open season at Farragut
The 2022 track season opened for Anderson County and Clinton high schools last Thursday at Farragut.
Clinton had several people qualify for the sectionals with their performance at Farragut, but they are still a work in progress, according to Coach Al Rodd.
“We’re working towards getting better,” he said.
Anderson County had a strong showing at the meet.
“I was very pleased,” said Coach Harrison Calhoun. “It was a great opening. It was a lot better feeling than when we opened last year at Halls.
“We showed our stuff a lot more this year.”
Anderson County senior and Lincoln Memorial University commit Kylee Alvis won the shot put event with a distance of 34-09.50. ACHS junior Ella Brummitt placed sixth with a distance of 27-02.00. ACHS sophomore Brianna Merryfield had a distance of 20-05.00. Clinton sophomore Abby Bible finished with a distance of 19-08.00. CHS sophomore Riley Owens had a distance of 18-00.00.
Alvis took third place in the discus event with a throw of 89-04.00. Brummitt took ninth place with a distance of 68-11.00. Bible finished with a distance of 53-10.00. Merryfield finished with a distance of 51-09.00. Owens had a distance of 42-11.00. Kendall Moles of Halls took first place with a distance of 109-08.00.
ACHS sophomore Kaitlyn Fisher won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:38.08.
In the 100-meter dash, ACHS sophomore Savannah Worthington finished with a time of 14.56. ACHS senior Madison Rayfield finished with a time of 15.48. CHS freshman Candance Cates finished with a time of 16.27. ACHS freshman Katherine Binkley had a time of 17.32. CHS sophomore Ryleign Moquin finished with a time of 18.18.
In the 200-meter dash, Worthington finished with a time of 30.64. CHS junior Juliet Avila finished with a time of 32.52. ACHS sophomore Alexis Burt had a time of 33.46. CHS junior Sifa Gatho finished at 34.42. Binkley had a time of 36.09. Moquin finished with a time of 39.06.
In the 400-meter dash, ACHS senior Macy Caldwell finished with a time of 1:08.45. ACHS freshman Marley Caldwell had a time of 1:12.78. Bible of CHS had a time of 1:15.34. Gatho had a time of 1:25.91.
In the 800-meter run, Macy Caldwell took fifth place with a time of 2:38.06. Marley Caldwell was 11th with a time of 2:46.94. Clinton’s Alison Holifield had a time of 3:22.19.
In the 1,600-meter run, ACHS junior Megan Haire was ninth with a time of 6:02.76. Sophomore Addy Shelton of CHS had a time of 6:57.74. Holifield finished with a time of 7:04.14. ACHS freshman Morgan Lindsey had a time of 7:25.59. ACHS freshman Emma Johnson had a time of 8:01.62. ACHS freshman Rylee Buchanan finished with a time of 8:01.89.
CHS senior Alexis England was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 21.79. Burt of ACHS was ninth with a time of 22.46. Cates of CHS was 11th with a time of 24.94.
In the 300-meter hurdles, England of CHS was eighth with a time of 1:01.98.
In the high jump, Worthington of ACHS was fourth with a height of 4-06.00. ACHS senior Madison Rayfield was eighth with a height of 4-04.00.
In the long jump, Clinton’s Avila was 10th with a distance of 12-02.00. Clinton sophomore Summer Wilson finished with a distance of 11-07.00. Merryfield of ACHS had a distance of 11-04.00. Clinton sophomore Addy Shelton had a distance of 10-06.75.
In the triple jump, Rayfield of ACHS was fourth with a distance of 26-01.00. Clinton senior Abigail Sanders was fifth with a distance of 24-00.00.
Clinton was fourth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 1:03.97.
Webb won the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 2:02.91. Clinton was fourth with a time of 2:18.35.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Anderson County was second with a time of 10:48.89.
On the boys’ side, Anderson County junior Bryce Leatherwood was 11th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.26. ACHS sophomore Ethan Walton finished with a time of 12.78. Clinton junior Ethan Ortiz had a time of 14.16.
In the 200-meter dash, Leatherwood finished third with a time of 24.49. Walton had a time of 27.54.
In the 400-meter dash, Anderson County senior Tyler Potter had a time of 1:03.77.
In the 800-meter run, Anderson County junior Ryan Basford finished with a time of 2:17.03. Clinton’s Ethan Ortiz had a time of 2:21.44. Anderson County freshman Ben Clotfelter had a time of 2:29.29. ACHS freshman Ethan Bolton finished with a time of 2:38.80.
In the 1,600-meter run, ACHS junior Connor Chandler was sixth with a time of 4:50.73. Basford of ACHS had a time of 5:07.91. Clotfelter of ACHS finished with a time of 5:25.57. Bolton of ACHS had a time of 5:47.46. Clinton senior Seth Shrout finished with a time of 6:14.68.
In the 3,200-meter run, Chandler of ACHS was second with a time of 10:53.67. Shrout of CHS was fifth with a time of 11:57.44.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Clinton sophomore Sam Duggins was second with a time of 20.24.
In the long jump, Duggins of CHS was 11th with a distance of 14-08.25.
In the discus event, Clinton sophomore Devin Monroe finished eighth with a distance of 102-10.00.Clinton junior William Jackson was 10th with a distance of 92-04.00. ACHS sophomore Riley Davis finished with a distance of 91-05.00. Ethan Ortiz of CHS had a distance of 74-08.00. ACHS freshman Caleb Dill finished with a distance of 60-10.00. ACHS freshman Connor Isabel had a distance of 55-00.00.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Clinton was sixth with a time of 4:17.32.
