More food trucks slated for Tasty Tuesdays event after busy opening
Some people who came out for the event from 4-7 p.m. March 22 in the Commerce Street parking lot complained that their food orders took nearly two hours to prepare, and many others who tried to participate gave up and left.
But this week’s event, which was to be held yesterday evening, was promised to be much better, with seven food trucks signed up and
more parking available, said Katherine Birkbeck, program director for Historic Downtown Clinton, which sponsors the event.
“We were overwhelmed, but that’s kind of a good problem to have,” she said Monday. “We had 400 to 500 people there. We’re ready for them this week. We have seven trucks coming
this week, and five are already lined up for next week.
“We quickly realized we’re going to have to have more food ready,” Birkbeck said. “That goes to show that people want a bit more variety of food here in Clinton.
It was such a beautiful night. I think people are enjoying coming to downtown Clinton. I think it’s about bringing people in
Clinton who have never been here before.”
One food truck operator was heard to comment last Tuesday evening that he “didn’t know the entire city of Clinton was going to show up.”
The food truck event is held in partnership with The Chef’s Workshop of Knoxville.
For April 5, the lineup will include Waffley Good, Rocky Top Masala (Indian food), Pizza Amore, Poynor’s Pomme Frites, and Smith’s Endzone BBQ..
