Anderson County’s track team has good numbers at huge HVA meet

The Anderson County High track team scored well in a huge meet last Friday and Saturday at Hardin Valley Academy.

“Our numbers are still growing and while they are twice what they were last year, we still aren’t able to compete in the relays,” said Harri- son Calhoun, Anderson County’s coach. “We just don’t have enough to get the relays yet, and we still have a really, really young team.

“We just don’t have

the numbers of the big leagues like Hardin Val- ley or Maryville, but we really held our own and I was really proud.”

In the girls’ 800-meter run, top finisher

was utumn Hedrick

of Dobyns-Bennett at 2:27.69. Top finisher for the Lady Mavs was Mar- ley Caldwell with a time of 2:47.60. Macy Caldwell, also of ACHS, finished with a time of 2:51.08.

In the girls’ 1,600-me- ter run (high school), Andie-Marie Jones of Maryville took first place with a time of 5:09.39.

The Lady Mavs’ Kaitlyn Fisher finished seventh with a time of 5:32.17. Megan Haire of ACHS finished the event with a time of 6:09.89.

In the girls’ 1,600 meter run (open), Marley Townsend of Knoxville West won with a time of 5:37.13.

Lindsey Morgan of ACHS finished with a time of 7:16.20. The Lady Mavs’ Emma Johnson finished with a time of 7:57.31 while teammate Rylee Buchanan had a time of 7:59.46.

In the girls’ 3,200-meter run (high school), Trinny Duncan of Science Hill claimed first place with

a time of 11:29.17. Kait- lyn Fisher of ACHS was second with a time of 11:34.02. The Lady Mavs’ Megan Haire finished ninth with a time of 12:55.49.

In the girls’ 100-meter hurdle, Brianna Baker of Grace Christian Acade- my finished first with a time of 15.14. Alexis Burt of ACHS finished with a time of 25.78.

In the girls’ high jump, Madison Johnson of Campbell County was first with a jump of 5-foot-2. Savanna Worth- ington of the Lady Mavs finished with a jump of 4-foot-6.

In the girls’ shot put, Gracie Waite of Hardin Valley Academy was first with a distance of 39’11.7. Kylee Alvis of ACHS was seventh with a distance of 31’8.25.

In the girls’ discus, Elissa Longmire of Jef- ferson County was first with a distance of 128’2. Alvis was 11th with a distance of 86’11.

In the boys’ 100-meter run, Jaden Stevenson

of Greeneville won with a time of 11.04. Bryce Leatherwood of ACHS finished with a time of 11.84. Mav Ethan Walton had a time of 12.54.

In the boys’ 200-meter run, Shavar Young of Webb was first with a time of 23.55. Walton had a time of 26.01.

In the boys’ 1,600-meter

run (high school), Kaden Keller of Hardin Valley Academy was first with a time of 4:26.31. Connor Chandler of ACHS had a time of 5:13.11. The Mavs’ Ryan Buford finished with a time of 5:21.77.

In the boys’ 1,600-meter run, Carson Long of Har- din Valley Academy won with a time of 4:29.48.

Ethan Bolton of ACHS finished with a time of 5:41.59.

In the boys’ discus, Eli Penix of Daniel Boone was first with a distance of 168’7. Riley Davis of ACHS finished with a distance of 90’7.

Half of the Anderson County track team will compete at Halls 5 p.m. Thursday and the other half will compete at Far- ragut at 9 a.m. Saturday.
