The Clinton Lady Dragons claimed a district softball win over visiting Scott, 16-1, in three innings last Tuesday evening.

The Lady Dragons rolled to 11 runs in the first inning and eliminated any drama early. They added two runs in the second and three in the third to end the game early.

Taylor Sherwood pitched all three innings and got the win. She allowed no earned runs on just one hit with four strikeouts. At the plate, she went 2-3 with a double and two RBI.

“We scored 11 in the first inning and after that we kind of eased up a little bit,” said Leonard Sams, head coach of the Lady Dragons.

“We’re trying to attack early in all of these games. We’re starting to average about eight runs a game, which is much better than what we did last year.

“We’re trying to keep the focus on getting those runs early and as many as we can,” he said.

Lead-off hitter Sarah Burton went 4-4 with a double, stolen base, two RBI, and three runs scored.

Tomi Taylor, Lynlee Adkins, and Bree McKamey each collected two hits and an RBI, with McKamey getting a double. Eccles, Hutchins, Heaven Britt-Kimbriel, Rynes, and Bender each had a hit, with Hutchins and Rynes each getting doubles.

Hutchins and Bender each had an RBI.
